London is just an Incredible Wonderland of Christmas Joy for your delight. Places I especially liked were Department Store windows, Harrods, Selfridges and Fortnum & Mason, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Covent Garden, Regent Street...I haven't visited the Big Christmas Fair in Hyde Park but you can check it out. There's Beautiful Decorations around every corner!

Here’s a posting from Ruth last year, with some experiences and ideas https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/england/a-week-of-london-christmas .

On it, I mentioned a free carols service at All Souls Langham Place Church, complete with an orchestra for the sing-alongs. Complimentary mince pies at the end.

A uniquely British Christmas tradition is Pantomime (or Panto), an interactive performance that includes song and lots of humor. London will have lots of Pantos at various venues - do an Internet search, but don’t wait until the last minute to book tickets. Last year, we saw two - a really big production at the Palladium, and a more intimate show at Wilton’s Music Hall.

Most Pantos are nominally based on a fairy tale (Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Aladdin, etc.), but that’s just for costumes and sets, and the real story is current events, wrapped around the fairy tale background. Some of the jokes are too “inside” for Americans to really get, but others are universal. Based on both of last year’s that I intended, there will be some jokes involving an American political figure, too, at which the audience roared.

Outdoor ice skating is big, including Skate at Somerset House and at the Christmas Market at Leicester Square.

Department Store window decorations were mentioned earlier, and Hamley’s toy store on Regent Street has those, too, along with costumed dancers on the sidewalk out front.

Streets are decorated with big light displays, as well, including Regent, Piccadilly, and New Bond Streets. Simply riding on Bus #139 after sunset lets you enjoy lots of different, colorful light displays without walking everywhere, especially nice if it’s chilly or windy. At Christmastime, it’s dark by 4:30 in the afternoon in London.

Do you mean at Christmas (around 25th December) or in the run-up to Christmas?

December in general is great, as others have said. Christmas Day itself can be a challenge as there’s almost no public transport and most attractions and restaurants are closed.

So it would be helpful to understand which you mean.

A couple things we saw last December were The 12 Days of Christmas at Sloan Square and The Ever After Garden at Duke of York Square (by Sloan Square).

I especially enjoyed the Advent service at St. Martin In The Fields in Trafalgar Square. The music was so beautiful, it actually brought me to tears.

I am doing the European Christmas markets and will also stop in London. If you Google London at Christmas or any variation thereof there will be a great, great number of websites that will have all sorts of information.
