London (area) rec’s need for serviced apartment or aparthotel?

I like to spend 4-6 weeks in London each year . (Zone 1 or zone 2 preferred, zone 3 for the right place). My regular haunt of the past decade, in Notting Hill Gate, has been closed.

Looking for rec’s for a solo traveler. A studio is fine but must have en suite and a kitchenette as well as good transport links. A front desk — at least during business hours — (not just “remote check-in to your apartment; check out in 6 weeks ….”) is also a must. That alone may rule out serviced apartments.

I am also looking at short-term digital nomad options but they seem to require 12+ weeks.

BONUS QUESTION: rec’s in other locations to broaden my horizons….but I do enjoy London (napped in three Royal Parks today during the heatwave …)

Thanks.

I am a big fan of Staybridge Suites having discovered them on vacation in the States. In the UK I’ve stayed at their Dundee hotel, but I see there’s one in vauxhall in London. Might be worth checking out. Has front desk, breakfast and kitchenette in room. Also self service laundry.

I used to work a minute away from the Vauxhall Staybridge Suites so if you want any advice on the area just ask.

Thanks all. I walked past Staybridge Suites today; Vauxhall is not really an area I have explored in prior years. Alas their rack rate is very high, so that would require discussion about a weekly or monthly rate for IHG Platinum Elite member (gotta love a $99 credit card!).

Tomorrow will be much cooler, and I have now made a short list of the other properties to check out. I was only aware of Wilde. Thank you, @VAP!

Honestly, I love having errands to run in a city because they give you such a change of pace from the usual stuff and take you into areas you might not otherwise go to (my best example of this was checking out maternity homes in Bangkok for a very pregnant USAID friend working in Dhaka…)

I love the Cheval Serviced Aparthotel brand and the Cheval Harrington is my go-to-place when I visit London. It is two minutes from the South Kensington Tube stop and it is in a neighborhood that I love. Unlike a lot of serviced apartments, the Cheval brands have daily housekeeping which is something that my husband must have. They also provide Nespresso coffee (and refill them daily), fresh water (still/sparkling), starter breakfast items, tea, biscuits. Each apartment, including the studios, have a washer/dryer. Full kitchen with all cooking equipment, plates, knives, silverware.

They have 24 hour front desk, well appointed apartments, and options for long stay rentals with better rates than the week long rentals that I usually have. They are a more luxury brand than something like StaySuites, but worth checking out to see if you can get a good rate for a longer-term stay. They have 9 locations throughout central London.

I just stayed at Ember Locke in Kensington for three weeks in April and it worked well for me. My room had a kitchenette and combination washer/dryer. I never used the stove top but did use the microwave and the fridge was pretty spacious. There is a bus stop literally right outside the front door and the Earl's Court Tube station is an easy walk. The front desk is staffed 24/7. And it was quiet at night (my room faced the rear garden so I can't comment on the street side--busy Cromwell Rd.). The staff was friendly and helpful. They clean your room once a week if you are a long stay guest. The hotel also has a restaurant and bar as well as a coffee/pastry bar. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it was Italian themed--e.g. pizza. Which was a bit strange as the decor throughout the hotel is Southeast Asian-inspired.

Another vote for Locke properties. I haven't stayed with them in London, but I very much enjoyed my stay at Zanzibar Locke in Dublin last year. I am a budget traveler, and I thought the price was very good. My unit had a full kitchen, including an oven and dishwasher. Front desk was staffed 24/7, and there was a coin (or paid, anyway) laundry on site (which I didn't need because I only stayed 2 nights at the end of my trip).

THANKS, ALL!

I now have a good shortlist of places to research. The Cheval properties appear to be far out of my budget but the other places look promising!

Please report back before and after your trip. I'm following this post with interest. I used AirBnB in November and want to avoid that mistake again.

My parents have used Studios2Let in Bloomsbury on several occasions and enjoyed it. It is located near Euston Station (with Kings Cross and St. Pancras not far either) and several Tube stops as well (Euston/Warren St/Euston SqKings Cross with in a 10 minute walk). There is also a locations next to Euston Station as well. There are grocery stores (at least M+S Food/Sainsbury Local/Tesco Express) within walking distance also.

Bermonds Locke is in an area that doesn't get much tourist traffic, but its proximity to London Bridge Station makes it more convenient to London attractions than one might think. And when I booked there it was unreasonably cheap.
