European Parliament votes to end visa-free travel for Americans

"The vote urges the revocation of the scheme within two months, meaning Americans will have to apply for extra documents for 12 months after the European Commission implements a “delegated act” to bring the change into effect."

This is part of an article here - http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/europe-visa-free-travel-americans-european-parliament-vote-a7609406.html

Do any of you have any more info on what this may entail - and how soon? Will it also cover Britain?

We're flying in to Amsterdam, then over to Edinburgh and train to London, then train back to Amsterdam.

I know this is in the preliminary stages, but we're not traveling until mid-May, so the timing could be critical.

I don't think it will happen. They would loose a lot of money, we would certainly retaliate, airlines would loose money, it would be a mess. There was a talk about requiring visa for Americans going to EU few years ago and then many more countries (than just five) of EU needed visa for US and it did not happen.
