Car Rental in Moreton-in-Marsh, Cotswolds

I am reaching Moreton-in-Marsh, Cotswolds from London by train and have return train from Moreton after 2 days. I am looking to rent a car from Moreton-in-Marsh to explore Cotswolds. Does anyone know of any car rental with pick-up & drop in/around Moreton-in-Marsh?

I know it's easier to find car rental in Oxford, though I have made the train bookings to/from Moreton and also want to avoid driving from Oxford to Moreton, rather want to limit driving within Cotswolds which I believe shall be relatively emptier roads.

Based on info from locals here on the forum there are no car rental places in Moreton-in-Marsh. I just checked AutoEurope.com (broker), which many of us use to find car rentals, and it says no car rental locations in Moreton-in-Marsh. I’d like to do this for a future trip too, but i understand the closest place is Oxford.

there used to be a small local car hire location in Moreton-in-Marsh but it has been gone for at least a decade.

None in the small town now. The two closest are either Cheltenham or Oxford.

Ok. I found 2 car rental places in Cotswolds (not exactly in Moreton-in-Marsh although) on Google Maps - Robinson Goss Car Hire & Cotswolds Vehicle Hire. They are quite closer to Moreton in Marsh than Oxford, and Google reviews are also good. Considering renting with one of them.

sandeep, it would be really helpful if you can post here after your trip and let us know how the car hire worked out for you. I can learn from your experience. Thanks! I hope it works out well.

For Cotswolds Vehicle Hire note that you have to do an automated driving licence check through the DVLA- the UK issuer of driving licences. That effectively makes them only available to UK licence holders. Also note the 150 mile a day mileage restriction without paying extra. That may or may not affect you. It used to be common to have such a mileage restriction but is a bit unusual nowadays.

As for Robinson Goss my computer says their website is dangerous and refuses to connect me.

Hi isn31c - got it. I emailed Robinson Goss - they don't have availability of a small manual car on the dates I am looking for. Seems like I might have to manage without a car in the Cotswolds, most likely I'll book a group tour.

I was happy with the GoCotswolds tour I took pre-pandemic. The tour departed from the Moreton-in-Marsh train station. I opted to spend several nights in Oxford and just take the train to Moreton in the morning since I had only allotted that one day to the Cotswolds. The tour used a van, not a large bus, and it got me to a lot of small villages as well as providing an opportunity to see the pretty countryside. You should be prepared to have just brief stops at each village, but there was enough time at each one to walk around a bit; it helped that I'm a rather fast walker.

Sandeep, you will get a good look at the Cotswolds going with GoCotswolds tours.
They have two different tours.
You could do one on the first day, and the second on the following day.

The two tours go to different villages. It's 2 different tours.
1. Cotswolds In A Day tour
2. Secret Cotswolds tour

Make reservations online in advance.

We have gone on their tours for years, and I highly recommend them.
They have the highest ratings on Trip Advisor, also, with all good reviews.
