Any recommendations for aparthotels for 4 adults in the Covent Garden area for first time visitors to London? We read it was the best area for first time tourists to stay in. Also open to hotels in the area if we have to get 2 rooms.
There are lots of great areas for first time tourists so I would not restrict yourself to the Covent Garden area.
Do you need two bedrooms or are two of you ok sleeping on a pull-out sofa? A lot of the aparthotels that sleep 4 only have one bedroom and use the sofa for the second bed.
What is your budget per night?
I've been finding the same thing. We need at least 1 king bed and an additional king or 2 twins, no sofa beds and 2 bathrooms. For 6 nights we'd like to stay under $6000. We're comfortable taking the tube and walking, so really just an area that is safe and close to restaurants, public transportation, etc.
Here is a place that could be in your budget but you would need 2 rooms::

I used to stay at one of their other properties (which has since closed) and was always happy with it. Their Victoria location is less expensive than the Covent Garden one but would also be convenient for touring.
Whilst London is expensive a budget of $1,000 a night is still generous. Anywhere within the circle line or immediately south of the river is fine to stay, especially if you’re happy to use the tube. Covent Garden is central but busy.

We stayed here but its been a few years. Read the reviews carefully, there are some rooms with no windows. Brilliant location.
I like the Covent Garden area because I find it is easy to get to other places in London. Plus from Heathrow you can take the Picadilly Line to the area. The West End is also nearby for catching a play and the British Museum. My go-to hotel for my last three London visits has been the Radisson Blu Mercer Street. I joined the Radisson rewards program which gave me a discount. The hotel's service has been excellent during all my stays. They have good AC, windows that open and great sound proofing. I have always been happy staying there.
Another option if you can get a discount is the Rosewood right by the Holborn tube stop. I stayed there a few times when it was the Chancery Court in the Marriott family. I think there is a Resident Hotel that gets high rankings. I might be wrong on the name.If you do a search on Trip Advisor for London rankings, the correct name should be in the top 20 hotels.
Since you asked about aparthotels, there are many chains in the London Area:
In no particular order:
Staybridge Suites
Fraser Suites
Citadines
Wilde
Staycity
Native
Resident Inn
Hyatt House
Locke
Adagio
Each has multiple locations. Some may have two bedroom units.
