Report: I’ve fallen in love with the Resident Covent Garden

I don't blame you, Valerie. I love one of their other locations; The Resident Victoria. I have not stayed at the Covent Garden location, but the one in Victoria was so nice. I love that they have a social hour in the evening for those who stay there, and there so many amenities. The staff is awesome and I don't think I've ever been well treated by a hotel.

I agree that The Resident hotels are expensive, but if you become a member, you get 15% off the price and some other perks, including early and late check-in and late check-out. They also have sales periodically. That's how I booked my stay. Granted, it was for a non-refundable room, but I paid for it with my credit card that has its own travel insurance. I knew I wasn't going to change it, so it worked for me.

I'm hoping to stay there again next time I'm in London

The Resident Kensington was my ”go to” London hotel for 15 years (and multiple name changes). I was really bummed when they closed last year. Unfortunately, their other locations in London generally exceed my budget. I have stayed in their Liverpool location which is also nice. I did see a decent price at the Victoria location during one of their sales but had already booked a different aparthotel for my upcoming trips.

Join their membership program. You will get a discounted rate on bookings. You will also get notice of their sales.

That does sound like a very comfortable stay ! Sadly it is way out of my budget. But I love every little thing you mentioned !! Enjoy your time in London !!

Great tips about joining their club and pre-paying for discounts. I did join the club but was afraid to pre-pay - I’ve cancelled about half of my trips in the last 2 years due to family circumstances;) I hope to have a better “go” percentage for future trips.

I’ll keep an eye out for sales - I’m curious if there are deals to be had at this hotel.

Next up on this trip, I’ll be trying the Motel Ones that you all rave about:)

And London is by far the priciest city for this 5-week trip. I have great rooms in Paris, Basel, Vienna - all at about 40% cheaper!

I'm headed to the Resident Edinburgh later this week for the second time.

The prices are just as bad as London.

I’m bookmarking your post because I will be staying in London next April for 2 or 3 nights. The Resident Victoria has been recommended to me because it’s near Buckingham Palace where I have a ticket to the Queen’s Wardrobe Exhibition.

If I stay there, I will become a member. Thanks for the tip.

I saw that Queen Elizabeth II wardrobe exhibit yesterday and it was really fun! Made me happy I'm just a commoner so I can dress in my comfy, messy way:)

Do the other Resident Hotels also have a microwave, and I assume a small refrigerator? That would mean you could get food from the Harrod's Food Hall.

Cala, they have microwaves, fridges, coffee makers, and hot water heaters, plus cutlery, glassware, etc. It’s a very nice setup.

Don't get Resident Hotels confused with Residence Inns which are a part of the Marriott chain.

There are five Resident Hotels....Victoria, Covent Garden and Soho in London as well as Liverpool and Edinburgh. They are all similar in terms of amenities.

Residence Inns is a large chain of apartment hotels.

This makes me happy. When Frank II posted all the locations, I realized I am booked in the Liverpool one in October for several nights. I had never connected it to the Resident Victoria that Mardee enjoyed.

The Resident Liverpool has one thing that is different from the others in the chain. It has a self service ice machine.

In case anyone is interested, a new Resident Hotel in the Farringdon area of London will open sometime in 2028.

I came to the Forum to sing the praises of The Resident Victoria (thanks to Mardee!) and have to say "ditto" to everything NWValerie listed.

We paid a tad over GBP 300 per night (gulp) but we were happy with location and amenities. Could have used a few more hangars in the closet (I am a fervent unpacker) but everything else top notch. Staff so lovely and responsive. Victoria location worked well for us as we were flying out of Gatwick after 3 nights there. Walked all over, as one does, for the two full days we had. Nary a bus required

Laurel, thanks! But I will give credit to Frank II for first bringing it to my attention. He mentioned it a few times, and it just looked so nice I couldn't resist. It really is a wonderful place.

TTM, I'm so glad that you're staying there—I think you will like it, especially the social hour in the evening. There are complimentary drinks and snacks, but the best part is the opportunity to meet with other guests. I really enjoyed that a lot.

And an ice machine! What a treat - I will have to figure out a use for it!

Hotel costs in Liverpool are a lot less than London.

But Edinburgh is catching up to London. It is getting very expensive.

While the hangers are the type that can only be used in the closet--unless you have a magical device like I have that adds a hook to those hangers--you can always ask for more. They will give you regular hangers.

The device I use is called ConvertAHanger. I bought mine years ago through Amazon.
