Additional Hotel Opportunities For Me

well I am changing my criteria for my upcoming stay in London and new possibilities have opened.

I am still possibly going to go through Booking.com but open to booking directly on P I.

However I am searching for Central London rather than a specific neighborhood and this has opened up so many more very good results.

I have discovered a YMCA Hotel with very good reviews although there are less than 40 reviews for now. It must be new on booking.

But there are hotels in Marylebone, Camden and Covenant Gardens along with other neighborhoods that I was not considering originally.

I am back to feeling excited about my trip and not so bogged down. I am feeling more freedom now that I am not limiting myself to a particular neighborhood.

I am not interested in the Paddington Station / Kensington areas only because I stayed in that area last time. I would certainly recommend the area but I want to stay in a different one.

Booking is offering a gift of sorts. If your booking at the hotel is over $1300, then Booking is going to give you a free one way taxi ride from the airport to your hotel. It is good for up to 6 people. It is only one way from the airport to your hotel. And the cost of your stay must be over $1300.00

Since I am staying 6 nights, my stay will almost certainly be over $1300.00. Not every hotel participates but many are and they are good hotels.

But based on reviews, Booking does its worst when it tries to offer anything else but hotels. That is where and when problems occur.

If I take this offer of a free taxi, I will have a Plan B.

I would not use this ”gift” as the basis for choosing your hotel. First decide where you want to stay.

For consideration see if the Club Quarters Hotel Covent Garen Holborn might work.

Stayed there last trip and enjoyed my stay. Holborn Station 2 blocks away. Lincoln Inn Fields right across the street.

Read my Back in London Trip Report where I talk about it and the neighborhood.

As a start you could look at hotel options around Elizabeth line stations so that you could do the journey from Heathrow without having to change. Bond St is likely to have expensive hotels but there should be good choices around Tottenham Court Road and Farringdon.

I will try to find your trip report and I will check out the hotel that you suggested.

ADDED: Where is your trip report? When did you publish it? I am looking.

I have just discovered that Tottenham Court Road is on the Elizabeth Line. I am finally learning about the transportation. It was so difficult for me.

Farringdon does not ring. a bell. Is it also on the Elizabeth Line?

Farringdon is the next station along after Tottenham Court Road. The stations on the Elizabeth line in Central London go Paddington, Bond St, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon, Liverpool St and Whitechapel. All would provide you with a direct service from Heathrow. I think perhaps Tottenham Court Road and Farringdon will be the best options for you to consider.

Thank yoiu.

I think that I am going to book PI Victoria which has good reviews. I know how to get there from Heathrow. I know how to get around.

But I am excited to learn about the Elizabeth Line and the stops on The Elizabeth Line.

I can book PI Victoria and then continue to shop around.

Thank You Claudia

I scanned your report and will get back to it another time. What a writer. You and others on forum.

I believe that you are one of the persons who turned me on to Hotel 63. I stayed there and I loved being across from Kensington Park.

I checked out the hotel you suggested but they had no availability for my dates in October. Did you mention it in your report because I looked for it and perhaps missed it.

I think that I am going to book PI Victoria and then I can keep shopping around. Hotels are getting booked up.

I am so glad for this forum.

that is the one that you suggested and I did a search. There were no rooms available

I am leaving in less than two months.

I think that I will stick with PI Victoria

Thank you for thinking of me
