Premier Inn Victoria Gillingham St

New to the Premier Inn chain but booked there as the chain has a fan base here on the forum with the caveats on size of the rooms etc... We went in with calibrated expectations.

We stayed at the Victoria location last week primarily given its location to the Victoria station and walkability to Buckingham Palace and the Abbey.

Pros. It is very well sited. Short walk from Victoria Station. They offered early check in as an option thus we were able to check in at 11:00 am after an all night flight. Staff were pleasant enough. A/C was ice cold. Good hot water. The trade off.

Cons: Room was tiny tiny and we had selected what they call Premier Plus. It didn't match up at all with the pictures on their web site in terms of things like having a work surface, a desk , chair etc... The bed, a double, was the smallest double we have ever had and we have traveled Europe a bunch. It was creaky as well. The carpet was not up to snuff. The breakfast buffet was poor and the breakfast room itself tired and need of refurbishment. Wouldn't be a choice for us again, especially for an extended stay, but we would try other Premier Inn properties. .

Sorry your room wasn’t what you expected. We just returned two weeks ago from the Premier Inn County Hall. Our Premium Plus room didn't look exactly like the photos, but it did have a good sized desk. It also had a small shelf with a mirror over it and a stool right as you walked in the door. I would not call that a work surface--it functioned more as a vanity because of the large mirror, and the hairdryer was next to it. Our room did not have a comfortable chair as shown in the photos. The bed was good and large enough. I don't love carpets in hotel rooms, but this carpet did seem to be clean. Our AC wasn't ice cold, but we were comfortable.

My report on our experience is in my trip report here if you are interested in checking out another Premier Inn:

I hope you had a good trip.

We stayed 9 nights at the PI County Hall in June and were very happy with the room. It was a Plus room on the 5th floor and was actually larger than we expected. Plenty of room to hang clothes, was open around the desk and mini fridge, comfortable bed and decent chair to sit in. The bathroom was also bigger than we’ve typically had in Europe. The air conditioning was good and appreciated over several very hot days. The location was also really good for what we wanted to see and do. We chose this particular PI based on numerous positive reviews on this forum. We would certainly stay here again.

A lot of the reviews of the Premier Inn Victoria on this forum have noted that it is an older building and therefore probably not as much up to snuff as some of the new Premier Inns. I'm sorry you had a bad experience but I wouldn't use that to discount them entirely. I've stayed in 4-5 different Premier Inns and have been very satisfactory.
