Keswick Lodgings

Hello all,
I’ll be staying in Keswick, UK late April and need your recommendations for accommodation. I am open to all types of lodgings as long as the price is somewhere around £80-£150 per night. What places did you love and why? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Esby. It's been decades since I've been to Keswick, but here are a few threads that might have some pertinent information on hotels. All of them are less than two years old. Hopefully someone else will respond with some more info on lodging.

I recently stayed at Harvington House and can recommend it.

There are a ton of guesthouse/B&B accomodations in the area east of town and
they all seem to be well thought of. You will not get an overly spacious room,
and the bathroom may either be shared or down the hall, especially if you opt
for a single room, but the hospitality was warm and the breakfast was delicious.

This is the Visit Keswick website which has loads of places to stay- https://www.keswick.org/

Many you can book through the website saving them the commission paid to the likes of booking.com

As I live 30 minutes away (20 on a good day) I don't often stay in Keswick. The last time I did was for the Keswick Film Festival. I can't remember exactly where I stayed but it was somewhere in the streets behind County Corner- my favourite part of town as it's quiet. Yet only a few minutes walk from the town centre. I think I have stayed in 4 or 5 guest houses in that part of town, all of which have been excellent.
So I am happy to try out different ones.
Clean, good hearty breakfast, friendly family hosts. Yes, as said, it may not be en suite for single rooms but with only a handful of rooms it isn't a deal breaker to me. YMMV.

Pretty much any of them will come in at the lower end of your budget, if not below.

Even the Skiddaw Hotel (one of the town's best) comes in not far above budget. The Skiddaw also have several self catering cottages at Police Court, right in the town centre (behind the old Police Station) right on budget.

For Keswick £150 is a pretty healthy budget.

Especially with a car (but also good by bus) you could try one of the villages like Threlkeld, Braithwaite or Thornthwaite, even up the Borrowdale Valley- the Lodore Falls Hotel and Spa in Borrowdale (a very nice hotel) is on well under budget. for a single The bus stops right outside every 30 minutes and it's a short walk across a couple of fields to one of the piers for the Lake launch. Lots of parking. I'm impressed and surprised that they are under £120 a night at that time of year for a single.

They have a sister hotel, the Borrowdale 200 to 300 yards down the road, on for £100 a night.

Their other properties in Central Keswick- the Kings Arms and the Inn on the Square are also mid budget for you. You won't go wrong with any of those.

Thanks for the helpful responses! After booking in London and Bath, I was indeed happy to see much lower room rates in Keswick. My travel partner and I will have been traveling together for over 3 weeks by the time we get to Keswick. The lower rates meant we could get separate rooms for some much needed alone time before we continue on our merry way to Scotland. I am happy to report that I found two single rooms, both en-suite and including breakfasts, for approximately £375 total for 3 nights each. Although I believe I found pretty decent deals in both London and Bath, I am not ashamed to admit the the bills made me wince a little!

This will be our first trip to Great Britain and we are so excited! This forum has proven to be invaluable in the planning process. Thanks!
