We are flying into Copenhagen in August. How ambitious should we be trying to see Sweden or Norway? Or should we strictly just see Denmark? Thanks in advance for your input! We're so excited to experience Scandinavia for the first time!!
It is very doable depending on how long you will be there. Do you have a return ticket? How long are you traveling in Scandinavia?
If your trip is only seven days total, I would stay in Copenhagen and vicintity.
There is so much to see and do in Copenhagen and surrounding area that seven days is only a drop in the bucket.
Only 7 days flying in and out of Copenhagen
Are 7 days in Denmark or does that include travel days? I should have clarified my other question.
Since you are flying in and out of CPH, then I think you might want to just stay around Copenhagen. Lots of day trips and side trips. But you could still visit Malmo in Sweden which is a short train ride.
I just came back from a trip to Copenhagen and Stockholm, flying in and out of Copenhagen. I had 2 weeks. With just 7 days, I would stay in Copenhagen.
Adding the link to my trip report. As you can see, there is plenty in and near Copenhagen to keep you busy.
Sweden is closer to Copenhagen than most of Denmark is. With the Oresund Bridge, Copenhagen and Malmo are practically one single urban area. Even Lund (where our daughter was staying) is an easy commute from Copenhagen.
Stockholm, that would be a weekend trip from Copenhagen. About 5 hours by train, each way.
Norway is farther than you think, unless you fly.
Thanks so much for the input, We will stay in Denmark and maybe take a side trip to Malmo.
Norway is farther than you think, unless you fly.
But if you sail, you travel during the night.
You could add either easily. We did Denmark & Norway but our trip total was 11 days. We took the overnight boat from Denmark to Oslo which made great use of our time, we slept and woke up in Norway! I would suggest looking into as an option if you'd like to add Norway to your time in Denmark.
