While reading a Viking site, there were several references that people over 65 could ride free on the public transportation in Prague.... just hop on and hope off!! In my research this looks to be true if you have purchased an "open card" for a small amount of money. Any one have up to date information on what the real deal is? I don't want to get pulled off or fined for not having the correct card or ticket.
Thanks
When we were in Prague in 2016 and 2019 my husband (over 65) was told at a train station to just have his passport with him. He rode trams and metro and local trains with no issues. I think he got checked once.
If you are taking suitcases on the train and are entitled to free travel you do need to buy a luggage ticket for your bag (CZK20) which we just did at a ticket machine.
Yes, you can ride FREE in Prague if you are over 65. You just need to carry your passport (not a copy) with you. I've linked an earlier post which answers your question:

yes, I am a regular visitor to the city (last there in September) if 65 or over just carry your passport ( no other document will do).if asked for ticket Just show your passport. on somebuses out of the main transit are yoy will have to pay but the likelyhood of you doing that are slim.Open cards have nothing to do with this.
Besides free transportation there are other senior discounts. We went to the zoo (which by the way is very nice with excellent restaurants) & instead of 15 Kronos (regular price) it was a coin of only 2/100th of a Kronos. What a bargain!
