Need help with planning my vacation to Prague, Budapest, Slovenia, and Venice.

I am not sure how this discussion works. I posted a question yesterday but cannot find it or the answers today. Maybe it did not get posted. My adult son and I are traveling to Prague on Sept. 14 and depart Venice on Sept. 24. Eight days In between we would like to see Prague, Budapest, Slovenia and Venice and maybe more. We don't want to stay more than 2 days in Prague. I am looking for suggestions from people that have traveled or lived there. We can take a night train to save time and a hotel and also rent a car to tour the country side. Looking for suggestions and advice.

You have 4 places over 8-10 days, one of which is a country (where do you want to go in Slovenia?). That is not enough time for those places as Prague, Budapest and Venice all deserve AT LEAST 3 days each, if not more. You do not have time to "tour the countryside". Many night trains have disappeared so there may not be many options there. I would try and concentrate the geographic area a little more and rethink your plans.
