Hi we are staying in Prague during the last week of June 2018 we are after central hotel recommendations, we are keen to do lots of walking around the city. Travel group husband and wife any ideas??
We stayed here last year and liked it very much: http://www.savic.eu/
You might post this in the Czech/Prague forum-
We stayed at Hotel Hastal- great location, and were very happy with accomodations- excellent breakfast
We stayed at the Hotel Residence Agnes in the summer of 2015. We highly recommend it. Beautiful service -- they handed us a little bag as we were leaving for our early flight to Paris and inside it was breakfast items for us to take with us from their very good breakfast buffet and do not get me started on the laundry service or the pick up from the train station. Reserve early if you are interested. It is ranked number 1 on TripAdvisor for hotels in Prague for good reason and sells out quickly.
We loved the small hotel The Boot, or more commonly Dum u Velke Boty. It is located right by several Embassy's just 100 feet from main streets yet very quiet, the hospitality was first rate and the accommodations exceptionally nice. We found the location perfect, close to everything yet away from the busy and noisy crowds. You will love your stay here. Book soon as it is very popular.
Yup. Prague is in the Czech Republic. See: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/czech/places-to-stay-in-prague-19a129e3-cb3a-400a-ba76-da8c7dbfe667
We stayed in an apartment managed by the Intercontinental Hotel -- it was a building behind the hotel and in a great location. We had the services of the concierge and we could hop in there for breakfast or a late supper if we wanted to and put it on our bill and we had the hotel arrange for transport to the airport and from the train. Golden Prague Residence. It was a decent enough one bedroom apartment. We like to have breakfast and snacks and the occasional meal in and it was great for that. The bedroom did not have a door which was a bit of a problem as one reason we like apartment is that my husband sleeps longer than I do and I like to be able to be up and about without disturbing him. We walked everywhere from this great location near the river.
A favorite part. We had booked a car to pick us up at the train from the hotel. And when we got off the train we saw a guy with a small 'Hotel Intercontinental' sign and walked over to see if it was our ride, which it was. Just then a very big and tall blustering tourist walked up and said, 'I'm at the Intercontinental, I'll be taking this car'. the driver smiled and said 'I am sorry sir, but the car is arranged for these people' and off we went. If he had been more charming I would have invited him to share the car, but no such impulse was present with his approach.
Prague is indeed the capital of the Czech Republic. I am not aware of any Prague in France /unlike in the USA/.
Moved this to the Czech Republic section of the forum--thanks!
Residence Agnes, perfect service, good location!
I don't like Agnes - they crawl all over their guests and then they treat tour guides and other service providers with contempt. They say you should judge a man by how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. Agnes fails this test. Miserably.
Take a look here , just down the street from The Powder Tower and Obecni Dom . Beautiful , historic , Art Nouveau hotel , with lovely breakfast . https://www.kkhotels.com/en/prague/hotel-central
I am sorry (and surprised) to hear Marcus's opinion of Agnes, and have no reason to doubt it, but am curious if he personally experienced this or heard from others in the professional tour business. Nevertheless, purely from a tourist's perspective, what Marcus said was absolutely true about the over the top service. In fact, I posted the following on the restaurant/hotel recommendations travel forum Czech Republic page two years ago: Posted by Robert (Happy Valley, PA) on 09/27/15 02:10 PM: "Hotel Residence Agnes was a fantastic place to stay in Prague! Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast buffet was extensive and outstanding. The location was great - a short walk to the Old Town Square and also to the metro. The hotel staff (Frank, Linda, Richard, Martin, etc.) could not do enough for us - they picked us up at the train station upon arrival in Prague, they provided free rides to wherever we wished to go in Prague, they made dinner reservations for us, and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. They also arranged for a private driver to take us to the next city on our itinerary at a very reasonable price (we had a quote from the travel agency associated with the conference I was attending and it was almost double). In short, this is a fantastic hotel with the best personal service that we have ever experienced in over 20 years of independent European travel. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Prague." And we will.
