If this new law is passed, you will no longer be able to take your own luggage into Dubrovnik. You will have to pay to have it transported to your lodgings. See https://www.foxnews.com/world/popular-tourist-destination-wants-total-suitcase-ban-travel-surges-post-pandemic .
Someone else posted this although you probalby missed it since there was no info in the title. The general consensus is that it won't pass, or if it does, it won't be enforced.
Oh Boy, what could go wrong?
Because people are already so comfortable entrusting their luggage to the airlines.
Well, if it passes...time to strike! Boycott the city and see how long the law stays enacted. If you don't want tourism, it can be arranged. Ridiculous law. I can understand a limit on late evening hours, but all during the day? Get real. Just goes to show you politicians all over the world can be stupid.
This specifically relates to the old town. Most lodging in Dubrovnik is not located within the walls of the old city. This will impact only a small fraction of tourists.
The headline is quite exaggerated. There is no ”total suitcase ban”. They are saying that people can’t roll their wheeled bags within the city walls. People can still pick up their bags and carry them.
Another reason I use a backpack now. I’m north of age 55, too. My husband uses a backpack too. We love Osprey and their gender specific design makes it easy to carry.
