We really loved Villa Lika. Rooms are nice and dinner and breakfast were great. The price is right. You can walk to the park though a small residential area and then a nice wooded path. If you park in the parking lots at Plitvice, you will have to pay, and you will still have a walk that is longer than you would think (and felt longer than the walk from the Villa!). They are across the road and even then, not that close to the falls, or bus and boat shuttles. We tried the paid parking first and the walk from Villa Lika is much more pleasant. I recommend arriving in the early afternoon, enjoying the park until closing, and then returning first thing the next morning to see more. You will have to pay for a 2-day admission, but it is well worth it to avoid the crowds. Also, we found the drives from Rovinj and then on to Split to be long enough that I would not want to make this a day trip.
