Looking for hotel recommendations for a couple fifty year-olds for a 4 night Split, 3 nights Dubrovnik trip in July. Appreciate the help!
What is your budget? Do you want a hotel or an apartment? Will you have a car, or are you relying on public transportation? What amenities are important to you? A little more information would be helpful in order to respond. I would suggest you start to search on Booking.com or another travel site using their filters, and do it soon. Many places in those cities are already booked for this July.
These are the hotels my RS tour used last Sept.
Split: Hotel Globo
Dubrovnik: Hotel Aquarius (requires bus or Uber to old city)
We also stayed at Hotel Globo in Split and Hotel Aquarius in Dubrovnik (2018). We enjoyed both hotels and locations. In Split our concierge recommended Restoran Perivoj i Kavana. It was 2 minutes from our hotel. The building architecture is from the period of the art nouveau movement. We ate al fresco. Wonderful cuisine and charming ambience.

In Dubrovnik our favorite restaurant was Kazbek. It was a short 10 minute walk. They offer al fresco dining on their lovely patio. Enjoy your stay!
We stayed in Grgur Ninski Rooms last May, and we liked it a lot: https://grgurninskirooms.com
The location was very convenient, the rooms were very clean and well-appointed (but small), and breakfast was included at a restaurant just down the street.
I also stayed at Hotel Globo in Split and Hotel Aquarius in Dubrovnik during my RS tour last May. The Hotel Globo was comfortable and an easy walk to the old town in Split and great restaurants. I'd stay there again. Hotel Aquarius while not being in the center of Dubrovnik was comfortable and had some good restaurants within walking distance as well as other things to see/do so you can spend time in Dubrovnik and then get away from the crowds if you prefer.
Forgot to add Dubrovnik.
We stayed at this apartment, just a couple of blocks outside of the city walls. It had the most gorgeous view of the old town. It was fairly spacious, clean, had a washer and dryer, had air conditioning, and the owner was an absolute delight to deal with.
In split stay at the hotel Peristil. It is within the palace. Fantastic location, great breakfast. They also have a restaurant which is very good. The owners are lovely.
In Dubrovnik stay within the walls. After a dozen trips we only stay inside. Once and only once did we stayed outside. So much more convenient. We use any of these three
