There are not enough words to describe all the good thing about Gina- both the accommodation and the person! Gina is an absolutely charming individual who has a very special gift for hospitality. She went to great lengths to make us feel comfortable, and her efforts were not lost on us. We departed at the end of our stay sincerely feeling that we had gained a friend. Although we booked very last minute, Gina was quick to respond and extremely easy to communicate with. Of note, we found it advantageous to book directly with the B&B via email (found on their website), rather than through a booking site. Gina B&B is located in a beautiful and very quiet location in the town of Kupjak, within the Gorski Kotar region, and in close proximity to Risnjak National Park. While only a 60km drive from Rijeka, it is worlds away from life in the city- an outstanding destination for both outdoor enthusiasts and those who just wish to relax in a peaceful setting. The B&B has new, clean and cozy log cabin décor throughout and a fireplace in the common/dining area, which always seemed to be lit, regardless of what time of day we walked through. Being the the only guests during our three-night stay, we were kindly afforded the special room with a jacuzzi tub, rainwater shower, and balcony with wilderness view. Our room and bathroom were spacious, with a comfortable bed and soft sheets, lending to a wonderful night’s rest. Soft towels, nice toiletries and robes were a pleasant touch. Breakfast was delicious and included freshly baked rolls and eggs cooked to order, among other options. Although the restaurant was closed for a seasonal break, she offered to provide dinner at a very reasonable rate. With gourmet meals by the fireplace and great conversation with Gina, we were delighted to eat dinner at the B&B every night of our stay and greatly missed her cooking and extra-special attention once we departed. In addition to the delicious meals and overall remarkable service, Gina also spent a lot of time with us and a map, plotting out options for outdoor activities, as well as onward travel from the area. While Gina is the “face” of the B&B, her partner, Giorgio, quietly tends to the “behind the scenes” aspects of the business, making a great team. Free parking and WIFI were a plus for us.
