White House announced the lifting of incoming ban on vaccinated visitors

The White House announced today that they will lift the travel ban on incoming vaccinated travelers in November.

Visitors will have to be fully vaccinated and test before arrival.

Unvaccinated Americans returning will have to test within 24 hours of arrival home. And again upon arrival.

Airlines will have to collect phone numbers and email addresses of people traveling to the U.S. so the government can follow up on some travelers to see how they are feeling. (This from a New York Times article.)

This is indeed good news but unfortunate to see it won’t happen until early November, according to the official who spoke today. Still, a path forward is better than nothing.

(Sadly, I have a feeling that the U.S. is not going to accept my husband - who, because he had Covid, only received one Pfizer shot in line with French rules. He is of course considered fully vaxxed in France, but I don’t see the U.S. changing its criteria.)

Kim, US persons who have had COVID within 90 days of returning can enter without even testing! Just read that today, That amazed me and I have also read that medical research show that recovery plus 1 dose is better protection than 2 doses. Oh that there would be some consistency between what is medically proven and what is accepted in practice!
