Where to quarantine if positive - Malpensa

Our Italy trip is approaching, and we'll be returning to the US in early July. Let's say, we get tested at the Milan airport and register positive. We'll have to quarantine. Will the local hotels be able to provide that lodging? Else, what?

There are several really excellent threads in this folder with various suggestions and tips. But, at a minimum, self-test ahead of the official test, so you know what to expect, and make a short list ahead of time of 2-3 viable hotels if you need to quarantine.

And do some self tests ahead of time so you will know what to expect.

I wouldn’t wait to test at the airport. Will you be on the move until that last day?

Be prepared!
I’m currently in Milan,Italy under isolation per Italian law as a result of a positive COVID test the day before my flight home.
My learned lessons:
Be fully vaccinated and boosted (I was)
Be in excellent health and condition prior to leaving (I was)
Talk with your Doctor prior to leaving and have a plan should something happen or you test positive while in Italy.
Bring your masks and “home tests” (I did)
Be prepared to use all precautions while in Italy to stay healthy (I thought I had)
Become familiar with both Italian and US laws in and around COVID before you leave (I thought I had but until it happens you may not be fully prepared)
Make sure you have plan…insurance and/or credit card insurance, extra time IF you get quarantined…extra money available…and misc. supplies/medicines you may need.
Contact the hotels you are staying and develop a relationship and ask the tough questions if there is a problem. (I’m currently very fortunate I have a place to stay and locals to help me)
Please note Italy is busy with a lot of tourists!
Be sure you have a relationship with your airlines and know their rules, regulations and your options.
There currently is a REAL risk to traveling…be fully open with yourself…make good choices!
Best of luck on your upcoming trip!
