Travel to Europe from the U.S. via Sierra Leone?

On 12/1/2021, I am set to travel on Delta from Sacramento to Sierra Leone, via Paris. On my return on 12/10/2021, I plan to catch a train in Paris for 2 nights in Brussels and 2 nights in Amsterdam before I return to the U.S. on 12/14/21. I am fully vaccinated and will get a COVID test in Sierra Leone before departure.

I need to have some idea if this is feasible, and I would appreciate any suggestions for how to do it.

Assuming that you meet the entry requirements into the EU from Sierra Leone, you would still need to get another covid test before flying back to the States. The test needs to be done within 3 days of departure.

Indeed you need to check the entry requirements for travelers from Sierra Leone into France (and quite likely Belgium and the Netherlands; it depends how far back they look at there you have been).

And of course to keep in mind that the rules in place today in late September may well have changed by December — so no matter what you learn now, you have to keep checking (to see if France etc change the categorization of Sierra Leone and thus the entry rules for people coming from there).

You can check France’s rules and categorization here (in English):

A quick review shows that for now, France categorizes Sierra Leone as Orange/amber, which is good as it means that since you are vaccinated, you can enter with proof of vaccination (and don’t have to fulfill any other requirements). However, you want to watch to make sure that Sierra Leone doesn’t drop to red.

this is a very complicated trip, involving lots of jurisdictions, rules and regulations. some of which are known, and some of which are unknown. human nature also comes into play. Take a lot of self-testing kits and prepare for the worst. Also make sure you can afford the time and money to quarantine somewhere if that happens.
