Testing requirements

Hello,
This December 2021/January 2022, my family and I will be traveling to Budapest, Vienna. Cesky Krumlov and Prague (in that order) from San Francisco. The travel requirements of each of these is very confusing to me. Can you please write to me in detail about the entry and exit requirements? What test is required to enter Budapest? Do we need to test again in budapest before we enter Vienna and test in Vienna before we enter Czech Republic? Also, what are the testing requirements to enter US after our European vacation? Do we get tested at the Prague airport?

Thanks so much for your help.

So much can change between now and then....and which countries will your flight transit thru on the way to Budapest?
Perhaps do a SEARCH here on the Forum and check current restrictions, but that's no guarantee of the status in six months. Also, google each of the countries' official covid traveller sites -
but it sounds like a wonderful trip.

The current requirements for today most likely won’t be the same requirements for Dec. and Jan. So, I suggest you start checking the requirements about a month prior to your travel date. And when you do check, you want to check the official government pages for each country. For example, here is the page for Hungary:

http://www.police.hu/en/content/information-on-general-rules-of-border-crossing

Here are all the travel requirements to enter the US. But again, these might not be the same months from now:

Thanks so much Carrie. So looks like as of now, US citizens cannot enter Hungary. I really hope they allow travel soon.

The last I read on the forum, Americans could enter Hungary by land (car, bus, train), but not by air. So if Hungary's really important to you, that's something you can check on closer to the time of your trip. It is, as others have said, way too early to try to figure out what the restrictions will be in December.
