I just received my SECOND BOOSTER. Four jabs in total. Now I am gleaning that entry to Portugal still requires a negative test as well as full vaccination, because USA vaccine cards are not recognized by Portugal. Is this true? Can a recent traveler to Portugal verify this? I checked the SHERPA site and it says this too. I emailed RS tours as I will be doing a RS Portugal tour in August. They wrote back that USA residents do not need a test. But this is not what I read on official sites. Anyone? Thanks.
If you look on the US Embassy in Portugal site, they sort of waffle on this one. I just looked on Delta's website where they have a tool that lets you put in your department country and arrival, when I put in my home city and Lisbon, the way it reads is as long as you have proof of vaccine you're good. Doesn't say the CDC card isn't accepted. We're going in the fall and I'm hoping all this is cleared up along with the US dropping their test requirements to come home.
I must add that I will be flying into Portugal from Vienna, Austria. (Where my CDC Vaccination Card is acceptable). If I’m flying from Austria to Portugal do I even have to go through passport control and vaccine proof and all that stuff when I enter Portugal from another Schengen country?
We flew from Seattle to Amsterdam on Delta four weeks ago. Portugal still requires a test for Americans. We had to show our negative test to check in at Delta in Seattle. In addition, when we boarded our flight in Paris to do the final leg to Lisbon, we were asked for our test. I told the agent we had shown it in Seattle and showed them our FlyReady boarding pass and they let us on. But just so you know - they did ask and they did want to see our FlyReady sticker - and we only got the FlyReady because we showed our negative tests in Seattle.
From CNN May 5th:
"All travelers entering mainland Portugal must either show proof of vaccination, OR valid recovery certificate, OR a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before boarding, OR a negative antigen test taken 24 hours before boarding. (Emphasis mine)
EU travelers to Portugal can show their EU Digital Covid Certificate proving vaccination, test or recent recovery. Vaccinated travelers hailing from non-EU countries with a reciprocal agreement with the EU can show relevant vaccination certificates. For a list of these applicable countries, see here.
Passengers no longer need to complete a passenger locator form before departure.
