Quarantining in Italy?

I have a ticket for mid-August that goes to Italy with a 2 hr transit at Heathrow. I've seen that even for 2 hrs in the UK I would need to quarantine for 5 days when i get to Italy. Does anyone know where i would quarantine? Is it acceptable to just stay in one's hotel? Of course, everything could change in the next few weeks:)

Is it possible to re-book through another gateway, like Frankfurt, Munich, or Paris? You should be able to transit those airports without triggering the quarantine requirement. It is also possible that Italy will loosen up about the UK/Delta Variant and start admitting residents of the UK like Germany just did.

I'm not up to date with the rules, but can you change your flights to a direct itinerary or via another European airport?

It is true that if you transit through the UK you will have to quarantine. As of today. It will likely change very soon, but for now that is the case.

We just arrived in Italy yesterday and also had booked a ticket routed through Heathrow. We elected for the expense of changing the ticket ahead of time so that we flew direct to Italy. They are serious when they mean quarantine, the police will check up in you.
