Overnight layover in Frankfurt - Another Covid test needed?

We’re returning from Amman, Jordan and have a 20 hr layover in Frankfurt before boarding our next flight home to Charlotte. We plan to spend the night at the Hilton in Frankfurt airport. As required, we’ll be taking our Covid test in Amman 3 days before our flight.

Since we will be exiting the transit area to stay in our hotel, do we need to get tested again in Frankfurt before boarding our flight home the next morning? (We’re both vaccinated.)

As long as the covid test was taken within 3 days of your flight departure (to the US, not just Germany), you're fine.

Assuming you’ve returned by now, what happened? I’m curious because we’re overnighting in Munich before our return flight home to the U.S. (we’re fully vaccinated travelers). Thank you.

Before getting our boarding passes in Frankfurt, we had to show our negative Covid test that we took two days before departing Amman (which was the first leg of our trip back). I was also prepared to show a receipt from the Hilton that we stayed overnight in to show we never left the airport but it wasn’t needed. Someone had suggested I might need it and I wanted to be prepared.

Keep checking the rules tho. They keep changing.
