OnPoint Testing

Has anyone used OnPoint testing for their return to US covid test? They say on their website that you can use any at-home test - basically you are paying for the proctoring portion. Says it is accepted by all airlines. So if you have extra tests at home, you wouldn't have to buy new Abbott proctored ones. I am curious is this is legitimate. When we traveled last year, Abbott was the only game in town. But, I'm sure lots has changed in a year.

Wow.

When I first read your post, I was skeptical. But after looking over their website...I'm leaning towards believing it. And why not -- this makes perfect sense, all they are doing is the supervision, which is the one thing that was missing except with Abbott's product. If their claims are true (and I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be), this is a game-changer. Bad news for investors in Abbott, good news for the rest of us.

Thank you for the pointer!

My husband used their walk-up test site here in Seattle when he wanted a test prior to having visitors. It was fast and easy, so at least the company is legitimate.

Both the OnPoint and Anova services sound interesting! I was getting ready to order the Binax Now AG but love the idea of carrying less bulky test kits. Does anyone know if either the OnPoint or Azova results are accepted by Quick MD when needing a letter of recovery? I looked at their website but didn't see a definitive answer. Thanks in advance!

The CDC permits antigen tests not just PCR for the recovery letter. As long as it’s documented, not an unmonitored home test

The language says viral test - defined here in general in the “what type of test” question. then the language for recovery letters under “what if I recently recovered”. Viral test is the requirement and antigen, PCR, NAAT, and others qualify.

I suppose quickmd could be pickier, but all they need to say is what is outlined above, the type of test is unlikely to matter.

I used Azova this past March to come back from Costa Rica. They offer two types of service - you can order their tests or just a video proctor using a home test. I used the tests we've received from the gov't and paid the $20 proctoring fee. It was clunky but it worked - just give yourself plenty of time and patience. You'll need to pre-register and sign up for a time slot. You'll connect with the proctor at your designated time and they'll watch you open and take the test via video on your phone. Keep the line open for 15 minutes, then show the results of your test. You'll then receive a PDF certification on your phone to show at the airport. I had to show it at both the ticketing desk and at security.

I thought about moving to these from emed but I’m staying with emed just because most of these seem to require an appointment. I’d rather just do it when I’m ready

I just used Onpoint coming back from Europe. Very easy with the bring your own test. I found an antigen test that was approved by CDC/FDA and they just sat on zoom while I swabbed myself. Worked just fine getting back into the US.

I just purchased yesterday OnPoint remote monitoring service for $18.99 and received confirmation for Zoom meeting to take place two weeks from now. I am going to Mexico and returning to USA. I am using iHealth COVID 19 Antigen Rapid Test which was free from US government. OnPoint advertised you can use any over the counter/store bought test. The bad news is that now, one day later, OnPoint’s website is down. This is insane. I have never experienced so many hassles for a simple 2 hour flight. They certainly need to find a simpler way or just get rid of this crap.

It’s a relief to know that someone has actually used Onpoint, as I’m set to use in a few days (it’s our only option, because our test day to return from Italy turned out to be on an Italian national holiday: bad planning on our part!). BigTravel, when you used Onpoint, was the Zoom session just you and the observer? Was the confirmation emailed as a link, or what? Thanks!

My husband and I just tested this morning using OnPoint. They sent us a digital pdf of the test results. At the top it says your passport number then the place and time test was taken (Italy 11:43am). It also has the time stamp of the place the proctor was at (in Texas). I’m a little concerned that the time in Texas is earlier than our flight tomorrow, so I’m glad to hear another person said this worked for them. Would love to hear more about how it went showing the results at the airport!

We used on point earlier this month in London. Fast easy. Looks like price keeps coming down as well. We paid 23.99 then got a coupon for 5 off and looks like price is now 14.99. I liked having an appt..do be sure to have local time on the report as it can "confuse" check in agents to do the conversion of the time difference. Someone upstream mentioned that your passport number can be added. Was that done in the registration process. We could only use DOH but it was enough info for check in. We used the free govt tests I health as well.

Just checking back in with an update. We did the test over zoom on the laptop I brought with us. The proctor asked for our passport number and the time of where we were. My husband and I booked a single appointment and that was fine.

We printed out the results at our hotel and used those at the Palermo and Rome airports and they worked to get us back to the US. There was a little hesitancy from the airlines person in Rome (they asked who the doctor was), but then were OK with the explanation I gave. When we got into JFK, no one checked or asked for our results.

nmetildi - you said you booked one appointment that you and your husband both used and that resulted in 2 documents (one for each of you)? That’s intriguing as we’re looking into options for testing for our family of four when we depart Rome for the US in July.

Each 15 minute appointment is for 2 people. So for a family of 4, you would need 2 appointments.

Goodmorning, I needed to comment about onpoint- testing. We are USA citizens in Ireland after 6 weeks , recovering from COVID and needed a proctor for our latest test so we found On-point 3 days ago. We paid for 2 appointments and are still waiting for someone to get back to us. 3 emails later - nothing. The phone # doesn't work over here nor does their help- desk apperantly. We are vaccinated and boosted twice plus visited a country with 91% Vax rate and yet this variant with mild symptoms found us. So we are delayed getting back to the USA by 10 days. Our physician at-home is giving us a letter for fit to fly next week since we tested positive and are almost back to normal. The USA and the airlines make it abit confusing should you test positive before coming home. Please, please make sure you understand the USA rules especially if you test positive! Many people are flying to Canada and Mecico , getting on a bus to cross borders as you don't need to test. It is kind if wild AND if you are delayed - usually 10 days - that travel expense is all yours. Do your homework.....
