Interesting, and somewhat comforting, article from the New York Times. You should be able to open it, even if you are a non-subscriber and have already read your monthly free articles.
Sorry - that link just goes to a "gift" page. Can you summarize the article? (And no have read no articles this month)
Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully I fixed it.
Thank you so much for the gift! Good discussion on the vagaries of insuring a trip in times of Covid.
I am starting to feel that I'm planning a trip to Europe next year that may actually happen. Between my partner's health and Covid its been a brutal few years. Our borders are still not open - but are due to open to citizens mid Feb - and I'm starting t o wonder if it might be sooner than that.
And to my amazement my partner got travel insurance that covers cruising and USA - with pre-existing cardiac issues this was far from a given, even pre-Covid, and feared that it would be even harder post -Covid. Not cheap but cheaper than a a night in a US hospital
A heads up on the night in the US hospital. They charge you after they cure you. You can always give it back. Or take a payment plan. At least in Texas, there is no refusal for not being insured and no proof of ability to pay required before they take care of you. Nor do they confiscate your passport till you pay. But buy insurance please......

It’s not Texas it’s a Federal law, EMTALA. https://www.cms.gov/Regulations-and-Guidance/Legislation/EMTALA
I just didn't want to speak beyond what I knew. Recently had a friend who had a massive heart attack (he is "better" now). He was in intensive care for two weeks before someone showed up to ask how he was going to pay.
Sadly we cancelled our Best of Adriatic today and transferred to South England tour. There were just too many variables. Leaving from Seattle required two international stops, then the tour enters four additional countries, all of which may have different requirements. We feel safer with one country. We have been to England numerous times, but frankly after two years of not traveling (one of the goals of retirement) we just wanted to go somewhere.! South England was the only tour available that fit our time requirements. We hope to do the Best of the Adriatic. Next year. 🤞
