Kids and quarantine

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any information regarding quarantine in the US with children under 12 when travelling from Europe. Are kids over 2 required to quarantine? I have read that there is a one week quarantine and a test needing to be done 3-5 days after arrival in the US. But I cannot find if this has minimum age limit or if all children are required to quarantine.

Also, does anyone know if the free tests from pharmacies like Walgreens are free and available to all or only US residents? And do those work for Covid tests that are required on the airline (Antigen Test)?
Also, we are not looking to travel around as tourists, but only to visit my family in the states. How is the Covid situation in Washington state?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Yes this is true. Depending on the city you go to there are other places to go for free. In downtown Chicago for example we have many free testing centers in the tourists areas. They are in vacant storefronts with big banners.

How is the Covid situation in Washington state?

The Seattle Times had daily updates:

The CDC testing requirement definitely applies to all ages:

But information on the post-arrival. quarantine situation is not easy to find, at least by me. It would be helpful to know (a) if you are US citizens, and (b) are you (adults over 18) fully vaccinated?

As for the covid situation in Washington Stste, it depends on where you are going. Seattle is #1 in the US among large cities for vaccination rate, with over 70% adults fully vaccinated. The most-vaccinated state, however, is Vermont, not Washington. Outside of the Seattle area, vaccination rates and mask compliance have been lower, and covid infection rates have been higher this past spring. But that may be over; we haven't checked the numbers recently.

The state-wide requirements are loosening, but in our area, many stores and other businesses still require masks inside regardless of vaccination status.

Greetings,
Thank you for the information. Everything I can get is helpful in this decision making process and good to know the current situation in the states, especially Washington. Hoping that masking and social distancing will still widely be adhered to.

To answer your questions, Lola: I am a US citizen, but my husband is not. The kids have dual citizenship. I have read that even in the Do Not Travel restrictions, he would still be allowed into the US since we are married, but have not been willing to chance anything going wrong in that area. Thus the decision to wait until travel was at least allowed.

As far as vaccinations: my husband and I are not yet vaccinated. It not long ago opened up here for people in our age group to get vaccinated, but we are still looking into whether it is the right decision for us. And one of the reasons why I wanted to find out if kids who are not able to be vaccinated are still required to quarantine. Because it wouldn't matter, as far as the travel part of the decision goes, if we are vaccinated, if we would still have to be quarantined with our kiddos. So it looks like no matter what, the 7 day quarantine would be required by my family, with a testing after 3-5 days, if kids under 12 need to be quarantined. And I still am not sure how to deal with those results. If anyone knows....how/where do you submit your test results once they are done, after the 3-5 days? If anyone has traveled already and knows the answer to this. Thanks again!
