Does anyone have any information on the protocols for isolation in Italy (Venice specifically) if one tests positive on the required testing before leaving for the United States? Are there "Covid Hotels" , how are you monitored, what are the options? Thank you for any feedback, I understand the requirements but have not found any specifics on what to expect if "stuck"
tuchmanns- there are multiple threads on this topic. NO ONE knows. Just be prepared to find a hotel that will accept you, can get you food, etc for 10 days or longer.
look for article in yesterday's NYT about this very subject. Executive summary - it ain't pretty.
Regarding the NYT article, it really says very little, and nothing about Italy. Things are constantly changing, Italy at one time had "covid hotels" but that was before a vaccine. As another poster mentioned, there is very little firm information out there as to the process, and perhaps more comforting, lots of people with no issue, and not one on this board of people who tested positive.
As I had mentioned on an earlier thread, if having to delay your return by 10 days, and incur the expense, is a deal breaker, you should reconsider travel. You could certainly inquire at the hotel you will be last, they may know the drill, but there is at least the logic that says to find a hotel for your last nights stay that is comfortable and within delivery distance of meals, and within your budget.
