In Scotland tested pos.

We self tested for Covid Friday May 20 and were positive. Official test for travel back to US was also positive on May 22. I am still testing positive as of May 25 despite getting our second boosters April 5 and wearing KN95 masks everywhere in Scotland! Asymptomatic. No fever. We tried downloading the Quickmd app and also accessing the website in preparation just in case. We keep getting message that site is "not available in your country". This and my husband's phones are US phones! Help please!

There are are some specific directions on the thread listed above on how to enter your address on the QuickMD website. It is on the 1st response to the main post. My guess it is the address function that is doing you in.

In addition, you could try https://www.mobidoctor.eu/

People have reported success with this as well.

Others simply email their doctor in the US a copy of the official positive test and ask for a certificate of recovery and receive one. This really depends on your personal doctor's policies. He/she is under no obligation to do so.

Have you contacted your primary physician in US? You will need a copy of the dated official Covid positive result, a Letter of Recovery from your primary or local healthcare provider, and a 10 day quarantine according to the CDC to re-enter. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html
My husband contacted his primary, she knew what was required and forwarded the necessary documentation. There’s no way to get around the 10 day quarantine. I wish you well, it is a shock to find out that this is really happening and you are not in the US.

To clarify some of the information above. The certificate of recovery may be from your primary physician but it does not have to be from your primary physician.

You are not under a 10 day quarantine in Scotland. You are advised to limit contact with others and wear a mask when contact is unavoidable. The 10 days comes up in CDC posts about travel and in some airline policies. The CDC does not set the policy for Scotland. Many physicians will not issue a certificate of recovery prior to the 10 day limit. https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/

You should continue to work on plans to get the certificate of recovery and test to see if you change to negative. Make sure you are communicating with your travel insurance (if you did not buy any, there may still be some through certain credit cards) and your airline.

Where does it mention that in the link https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html ? I only can find this:

If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19 (i.e., your positive COVID-19 viral test result on a sample taken no more than 90 days before the flight’s departure from a foreign country and a letter from a licensed healthcare provider or a public health official stating that you were cleared to travel).

Carol, I believe I stated “or local healthcare provider” and if these are US citizens wanting to re-enter the US by air, the CDC restrictions for re-entering the US after testing positive for Covid most certainly do apply.

Margie, not trying to be argumentative. Just clarifying some important language. The words you used, "local healthcare provider" have different meanings to different people. Some people might assume that meant their doctor at home. The word "quarantine" also carries specific meanings and Scotland simply doesn't use that language or that meaning.

John,
“You tested positive for COVID-19.
Do not travel until a full 10 days after your symptoms started or the date your positive test was taken if you had no symptoms.”

Thank you for the responses. We live in a small town so will be surprised if my doctor has experience with this but will try. UK is using a "living with Covid" policy so no quarantine but we are wearing masks and limiting contact etc. Carol, thanks for travel insurance advice. We have it already and husband is calling them as we write this! I emailed the US consulate general here in Edinburgh to see if they could recommend a doctor here if needed. Health system so different from ours. Meanwhile we continue to test and hope for best in next few days.

If you are frustrated with quick md, try the other website I gave you. One of those will work if you can't find a different solution that you like better.

Sorry, I obviously wrongly assumed that you were currently trying to get home to the US. Of course the restrictions are different when you are in Scotland. We just went thru the testing positive the day before our flight home to the US and I only wanted to share what we had to do to get home. Hopefully, by the time you have to fulfill the US re-entry restriction requirements you will have tested negative.

You can try googling for a private GP or clinic (meaning that you self pay for the service).

You don't need the embassy to recommend a dr! Just ask your hotel - or a local pharmacy!
