Effective June 1, Germany will no longer require vaccination or negative Covid test for entry. Hope USA adopts this logic very soon.
Great! I hope that applies for the month of October!! Doubtful that will happen for return to the US. This is a politicians’ power-play.
Hope by October also. I know we have to test coming back from our June trip.
We are a year out from our trip to Germany, but glad to read this.
sensible move. we are at a point where its effectively like tracking and testing for common cold now
As of now the regulation is only June, July and August, so we'll see after that. Coincides nicely with those 9 euro transit passes.
Looking at the ministry of interior and foreign office websites, to me it looks like travel into Germany from the EU or Schengen is restriction free, but it still mentions that coming directly to Germany from overseas travel for tourism is only allowed for vaccinated or if coming from their small list of approved countries. Maybe things will be clarified in the coming days. US embassy says US travellers can come on in with no restrictions fwiw.
Yes, I’ve been referencing this link and it looks like no proof of vaccination or negative test required for summer. Also have read that there are currently no countries currently listed as ‘areas of variant concern’ so this should apply to everywhere for now - from my reading and understanding,

mggtravel: Thank you for posting this link! We're leaving for Frankfurt in early July and I've been researching the evolving requirements and missed this advisory.
Actually the information has changed I noticed - now it says that travelers from US must be vaccinated. Very confusing as just a few days ago this link had difft information per my other post on this thread.
I know that Germany had lifted vaccination requirements for travel, but I couldn't find any follow-up to their rule in January regarding needing the Booster shot in order to visit restaurants and bars ... I'm assuming this has been dropped, but is there any confirmation?
(33 yr old American with two-shot vaccine in Mar/Apr 2021 (Pfizer) and not planning on getting the Booster)
