Currently looking to go to Greece (including Crete) in February 2022. I've read and re-read multiple times all the entry info. I noticed I provided my nickname (Donnie) when I got my first shot rather than my legal name (Donald), so there is this discrepancy between the CDC card and my passport. Course last name and DOB match on both. Has anyone had experience with this situation getting into Greece and, if so, what happened? Any recommendations?
You might try going back to the location that issued your CDC card and asking for a new card in your more formal name. I don't think the CDC card was ever intended to be an id card as there is no standards for issuing the card. My wife has had a problem over the years with a middle name mismatch between her given middle name and using her maiden name as a middle name. While we worry about it, it has never been a problem. If you were looking at the difference between Harry and James as first names, there might be a problem I am guessing Donnie and Donald would not be a problem.
Frank, thanks. In fact after I posted this I emailed my primary care clinic to explain my concern and ask about a reissue. Appreciate your response and example. I, too, thought I might let this slide given the similarity of Donnie and Donald (plus the same last name, the same DOB, and proof, via my passport, that I am who I claim to be).
