Flying out of Canada to Greece

I conducted a search for this, but I didn't find anything recent.

We are planning to take our 2020 cancelled trip to Greece in (finally!!) June 2022. We live near the Canadian border. Flights out of Canada are currently significantly cheaper than out of the US from our nearby airports. Has anyone had any recent experience flying from Canada to Europe and back to Canada?

Yes, I know there is the possibility that the US/Canada border could be closed again. We're willing to take that risk. I have checked requirements for testing, and they seem to be similar to the US (currently). We are fully vaccinated. I'm wondering if anyone from the US has flown out of Canada and back recently and has any experience or wisdom to share. Thank you!

Very unlikely that the border will close again. As for testing requirements remember that you would need a negative PCR test just to cross into Canada from the US, as well as the negative test to enter Greece. Similarly, you would need a PCR test (not just an antigen test) within 72 hrs to return to Canada from Europe. You would also need to download and supply the required info in the ArriveCan app, in addition to the forms needed for Greece.

CJean is right, but who knows if it will be the same by June.

If testing remains, can you time things so one PCR test gets you into Canada and Greece? Would be tight, I expect.

Yes! Thank you! I took a look at the ArriveCan app and the testing requirements. We had planned to make a visit to this particular Canadian city later in July, so we will just combine that trip with this one to Greece. Meaning, we will arrive in Canada a day before our flight to Greece and stay a couple days after. We realize this will cause a need for more testing due to the time frames, but we are OK with that. One test might get us into both Canada and Greece, but, yes, it would be tight. The flights have fewer connections, better connections, less total travel time, more reasonable layovers, lower cost for bulkhead seats (which I need due to health reasons), one carrier the entire trip, and are half the price (even with the purchase of bulkhead seats). Parking is a wash, and we have to drive hours to get to an airport anyway. Won't be able to use Global Entry on our return flight, but that's OK.
Thank you for the replies, and I welcome any other advice members can offer.

We just travelled to Greece from USA on September 19, 2021. We did not need a negative test to get into Greece. Did something change that now requires a negative test to enter Greece? I know things can change at any time, but still looks like proof of vaccine is good enough to enter Greece from USA or Canada.

Does Greece now require a negative covid test before entry of VACCINATED travelers? Thanks.

No test needed for fully vaccinated travelers to Greece from the US. But we do plan to test anyway just for safety's sake. We are also traveling to Egypt in Dec. and no test is needed for fully vaccinate individuals to enter. However, our tour owner said that a negative PCR test will get us through immigration much faster and easier. So, we'll test anyway for that trip as well.
