on my recent RyanAir flight, masks were only "strongly encouraged" but not enforced.

You do realize this is just a recommendation and not a rule. It is still up to the individual countries to make their own rules.

Each individual country/airline will still do as they want, up to a point. But the more EU compliant ones will be more likely to follow recommendations. This gives them the cover they need to relax enforcements, or, remove them. It sends a signal.

Some will dread this. Others will applaud it. Hence, "Just Saying"

Well, perhaps I stopped my keyboard too soon. I should have said requirement recommendation.

Italy and Spain are keeping their mask requirements for airplanes until mid June.

We flew from Naples to France May 9th, no mask required and about 30% wore them
