Does Portugal accept the US CDC card?

Does anyone know if Portugal accepts the US CDC card as valid proof of vaccination? Two weeks out from our Best of Portugal trip and I am am very confused.

Thanks!

We are flying from Seville Spain to Lisbon on April 15th. I called TAP Air Portugal today and the agent confirmed the only vaccine certificates accepted at this time are the EU vaccination cards. We will need to do a covid test in Seville. We will be watching regulations as they may change before that time.

We leave Sunday for Lisbon and the Portugal tour that starts March 23. It is confusing, but since US can't manage a digital vax certificate, you have to have proof of a negative COVID test - at least as of right now - and it has to be a lab certified one, no at-home test unless proctored (telehealth). We are covering all our bases and opting for a rapid PCR test ($$) before heading to the airport. 72-hour window should get us through AMS and LIS even if we run into delays...

Thanks for the update. We just made or COVID test reservations for our departure flights. Flying through Germany and on to Lisbon. We are on the 4/4 tour. Just the entry forms to fill out and document upload to United 48hrs before our flight.

We will be flying to Lisbon from Hungary as the last part of a multi-country trip. It sounds like we need to do a test in Budapest and can't just bring our own to do via telehealth? Does anyone have any advice on this?

We are in Portugal now and the answer to this question seems to be “ it depends” which is completely not helpful 😉. We connected in Amsterdam and the only thing that was checked was our passport. Landed in Lisbon, and no one checked anything at all. However, others on our tour who did not connect in the EU had to show negative Covid test result…

Departing from Chicago on Air France connecting through CDG Paris to Lisbon August 2021 required proof of vaccination and Negative Covid test. Air France accepted my CDC card when boarding in Chicago. No documents were asked for when connecting in Paris nor upon arrival in Lisbon. So maybe the verification when checking in to board in Chicago “followed” me to my destination-Lisbon. It may depend on each airline’s track record for verification of required documents. It is in the airline’s best interest to complete the necessary checks. Someone told me that the airline must take responsibility and assume the cost to return passengers to the original point of departure if there is an issue with a passport. Maybe it is the same for acceptable proof of negative Covid test and vaccination records. Your airline should be able to provide assistance with your question. They want customers to have the correct required documents… no issues, no delays, no disappointments.

I should update my own post. Leaving SFO on 3/30 via United Airlines, their web and app required you upload your documents to receive a Travel Ready boarding pass. Since our COVID tests were done via Trust Assure at a CVS pharmacy the results where sent over automatically. Arriving in Munich things were a bit more complicated. Lufthansa needed to see our copies of our test and our entry form before giving us a sticker to show the gate attendant. Our boarding gate was changed 3 times before we were finally boarded. We were very lucky we did our passport control in Munich, as the line to exit in Lisbon took over 2.5 hours to clear for some fellow travelers.

When you say that CVS/Trust Assure sent your results automatically, do you mean sent to you or also to Lufthansa? I am traveling to Lisbon on Iberia Air in June from Chicago with connection in Madrid. I used CVS for PCR test in August to travel to Europe on Air France but I had to show the paper copy I printed from the CVS test result confirmation when checking in at Air France in Chicago. I also had the negative test result confirmation on my CVS phone app but the Air France rep at baggage check-in wanted the paper print out along with my CDC vaccination card. I never used my QR code for proof of vaccination nor the CVS app showing a negative PCR result. I plan to use CVS again in June if Portugal is still requiring proof of a negative test for entry. And I hope testing remains free - paid by the government (tax payers!)
I hope you are enjoying your travels.

Yes, Trust Assure sent a copy to United and provided an email which I printed off to bring with me. United never looked at my documents, but Lufthansa did need to see both my document and my entry form.

Thank you, this is really good to know as I am also traveling on United for 2 trips, 1 of which is to Portugal. May I ask how soon after your test you received your results from CVS?

Our test at CVS was scheduled for 3:00 but CVS was running late and we did not get in until 4:30. My test result sheet says the test was completed at 5:03. My email came in at 1:16AM just over 8 hours. This was a PCR test not an Antigen test.
