Even though Italy dropped their testing requirement, I decided to keep my pre-scheduled COVID PCR test anyway, just to make sure I'm not sick as we're scheduled to leave tomorrow. I took the test yesterday, June 5th, and got the result back today. It came back POSITIVE! I was shocked! I feel fine!
However, once I picked my jaw off the floor I looked closer at the test. The letter said the sample was taken on January 24th! Huh!? It turns out the lab resent my test results from 6 months ago when I really had COVID and was very sick. As I type this it's still unresolved. I called the lab and they said to send my name and DOB. That's it. The moral of the story is look at your lab results carefully as these labs can make bad mistakes.
Lucky Italy no longer requires a PCR test or I wouldn't be going on our trip, which was delayed from 2020....due to COVID.
Update: took a over the counter home test and I'm NEGATIVE.
