COVID Hotel Rome

Any recommendations as to where we should stay should we test positive tomorrow at FCO? I've Googled and found nothing. Every hotel we've stayed at here has made us sign a paper stating that we were not positive for COVID.

Seriously?
We just returned from a 19 night trip in Italy, stayed at 8 different hotels and not one asked for that.
Seems like that would be illegal
I remember a recent forum member who got stuck in Pisa telling us that her hotel told her they were not allowed to ask that question.

Why wait til tomorrow? Test today at a pharmacy so that you can prepare.

Have you self tested at all yet?

From what I’ve read I wouldn’t wait until the airport either. We will be going this summer and plan to bring along lots of rapid tests and then test the day before we are supposed to leave. I hadn’t heard of anyone asking about covid status either and that makes me a bit concerned since I see that the Airbnb we are staying in is booked for right after we leave.

ChristineH That's funny because a few of our hotels did have us sign this form. Anyway, we self-tested yesterday and were fine. Tomorrow we take the train to FCO to spend tomorrow night at the airport Hilton. We did bring some of those proctored self tests but we though that we'd take the test at the airport tomorrow after arriving on the train. I'm wondering if it would be better to not take the test at the airport but instead take the online test in our hotel.

Above you said it was "every hotel"

Your choice of when to take your official test. We had some proctored tests with us but found it very easy to just test at a pharmacy the day before our flight. I would not want to wait til day of flight and I would not want the extra exposure on the train (take a taxi) or inside the airport beforehand either. Being on the flight with a couple hundred unmasked people is enough of a risk.

(We tested negative and were able to fly home, since then we are both COVID positive and I feel like crap- waiting for my doc to set up monoclonal antibody treatment, so don't assume you are off the hook. Test again a few days after you are home.)

Christine H. I am sorry you are not feeling well. I could tell something was a bit off from your tone in the replies. Get some rest and take care of yourself.

Christine, just curious as to why you didn’t do the Binax tests. There was such a long thread about that, I had assumed you had done them before.

For those who are debating pharmacy testing vs the home proctored version, the reason that we did testing at the pharmacy was because for the four of us it was easier, faster and cheaper. The day before we flew home from FCO we were tested at Farmacia del Moro in Orvieto - 20 euros per person and we were in and out of the pharmacy in 30 minutes or less. Then on to our farewell to Italy lunch. Although we did make an appointment for the tests, we could have walked in. For anyone looking to test in Orvieto, I highly recommend Farmacia del Moro.

I would have preferred a pharmacy test, but I wanted to give ourselves more time to decide what to do. If you test positive, the authorities are notified right away by the pharmacy. It took just a little over an hour for the 4 of us for the binax test.

I can appreciate that, Lulu. And I really should add that my sister and brother-in-law have a house in Orvieto so the issue of where would we go if we tested positive was, in our case, moot.
