COVID-19 test in Iceland? Any recent travelers from Iceland back to the United States?

I am traveling to Germany in June but staying in Iceland for a few nights before and after Germany.
I have all my shots and will have the booster three weeks before I leave even though I think it’s not required I am a US citizen.
I would like to know please if any recent travelers have experience if it’s easy to find a place to have the COVID-19 test in Iceland one day before my flight back to the United States? I tried looking on their site and it says limited tests available or something similar. I know it’s a requirement but I need to get the test taken in Iceland since I will be three nights in Iceland after Germany when I return to the United States. Seems like it used to be plenty of places to test in Iceland but since Iceland has no requirements anymore to testing before entering Iceland or vaccinations then maybe it’s harder to find a place to test one day before the flight. recent experiences please if possible.
Also is it true that United States is thinking of doing away with the one day testing requirement coming back from abroad back to the United States for American citizens at the end of May? Or is that just a rumor or that it needs to be renewed and most likely will? Thanks in advance to any information. I’ve tried looking it up for myself first but haven’t found answers to my satisfaction yet.

There's a whole website devoted to covid testing in iceland: https://www.testcovid.is/
Because Iceland is a small sparsely populated country you are not going to find testing kiosks on every corner, but testing is available and that website has all the details.

When I went to Iceland I took the Binax Now proctored test and did it in my Air BnB. If you search this forum there are multiple posts about using that test, which couldn't be easier or more convenient.

My niece and her husband just returned from Iceland a month ago and they said that testing is very limited. They had to modify their plans and return to Reykjavík a day early because testing was not available in the city they had scheduled to stay in. Regardless, this didn't impact their trip - they had an amazing time.
