CDC UK Measles Advisory

I always add my travel destination overseas to the STEP site. So I received this notice to share here, if helpful.
(It goes on about rising measles outbreaks globally and references airports and other crowded public spaces as sources of exposure.)

Health Alert – U.S. Embassy London, United Kingdom (June 13, 2025)
Location: Global Level 1 Travel Health Notice
Event: The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 1 Global Travel Health Notice for Measles.

I'm keeping my N95 firmly on, as usual!
Healthy and safe travels!

Hi Bon Voyage

I think that I got one from STEP a week or so go.

What did yours say. i think mine was just an advisory about crowded airports and airplanes. And that someone was diagnosed with meales while traveling.

Maybe it said something about vaccinations/??

But I am of an age when we got measles as a kid. And I did.

Mine was the same, with the case contracted through travel. (I added the mask suggestion myself!)
My school district required proof of staff immunity or vaccination a few years ago, to prepare. If you're not sure (as an older person who might-or might not- have had it) you can get your antibodies checked.

just FYI, check to see if your insurance will pay for an antibody test. Mine did not. Though I was fairly certain I had measles as a toddler, I wasn't sure. Turned out I did have antibodies, but I could have just had a measles vaccination and it would have been covered.

Further, there is an age group where they have found needs a booster because the antibodies have waned over time.

I just had my antibodies (titers) checked for MMR, HEP A and HEP B. It's for peace of mind and knowledge about whether I needed to get the vaccines. An aside, but I found out that Medicare will not cover the Hep B vaccine unless in a moderate-high risk category which I'm not.

My wife had her physical recently, the Doctor knows we travel internationally, so they suggested and did a titer, wife needed a booster, simple. (She was born in 63 for reference)

This is not really anything to be overly concerned about, get the titer, and a booster if needed. Done. Some are concerned they will need proof, that simply is not going to be a requirement like Covid Vaccine was.

Like Mardee, I am good.

I most definitely had measles and born before 1955.

I was born in a time period when if a playmate got measles, there was.a party so the other kids would get measles. Parents were encouraged to let us kiddos get measles.
