CDC logo not visible on vaccine card

I realize I’m probably over-thinking this, but wanted to see if anyone has a similar situation and if it affected your international travel in any way.
My pharmacist affixed printed labels to my CDC vaccine card with the vaccine type, dates, etc. However, the label covers almost all of the CDC logo in the top right hand corner. It does not cover the heading on the card that says “COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card”. I asked the pharmacist about it today when I got my booster (yay!) and they are not willing to provide another card, as they say they only use the printed labels. They are able to provide a print-out from their system verifying the vaccines upon request. I will probably get one at some point to take with me just as a back-up.

Does anyone have a CDC vaccine card with the logo covered and if so, did it cause any problems, either with uploading to an airline website or applying for whatever country’s Covid pass? I hope to buy airline tickets to France and/or Italy in the next couple of months for a May or June trip. Thanks for any feedback, I know the folks on this forum are great.

I’d go back and ask him or her to issue a hand written card. They can do it if they wanted to. Makes no sense to me. Poor customer service.

I fail to grasp how the logo would get covered by the vaccine stickers that belong on the bottom half of the card.

Hi Joe32,
Some vaccination sites print a label for the name and birthdate at the top of the card. Depending on the size, it could cover part of the CDC logo. I’m a vaccinator and encountered this just today for 2 folks whose first shot was administered elsewhere.

Kathy,
I’d guess that US airlines will not make an issue of it. Odd that the pharmacist won’t recopy the card for you (and destroy the first one). Your strategy to bring an official printout of your vaccination record sounds like a good insurance policy in case you get questions.

Contact your local health department if the pharmacist is unwilling to replace it. If they can’t help, contact your state health department.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I plan to talk with the pharmacy (Publix) management first and then contact the health department/SHOTS program if need be. I'm pretty sure there won't be a problem with my card, but I can't help worrying about such things!

Just a note about records. My state also has a similar program for your vaccination records. But it does not generate another CDC card. It just gives you a printout of all the vaccines you've ever taken that have been reported to the state health department. Mine goes back to kindergarten times, with no signatures, initials or batch data. It seems to me to generate a new CDC card, the person sending it to you, (a clerk in my case) can't sign that they gave you a shot. So I'd ask your Florida program about the CDC card, not just assume the vaccination records is what they are referring to. I did not see that in the FAQ or site mentioned for Florida. But please report back if successful.

just a thing I ran into, I am in Belgium, and they no longer accept the CDC card, you need a Belgium QR code for visitors. The QR code is easy to get online, but one of the questions that requires a "yes" is if your record has a "watermark", which I interpreted to be the CDC logo. So if covered, yeah, might be a problem.

In Italy though, as soon as you pulled out your US passport, they waved you through, however, yeah, a few places looked at the card.

This may not help you, but it might be helpful to someone else.

Hubby and I got both original vaccines and boosters at the same pharmacy, RiteAid. When getting the booster I asked the pharmacist if she could give us second cards, filled out by her, as backups to our originals. She agreed. We then took our CDC cards to Office Depot and had them copy and laminate our first cards. They look more official since it’s obvious they were filled out at different times. They did copies and lamination at no charge. Now we each have two original cards and a laminated copy. We recently returned from Washington State where we spent some time in a county that required CDC cards to dine in restaurants. They didn’t bat an eye at our laminated copies. If more boosters are needed in the future we can take our original card in, then have it copied and laminated again.
