Binax test to LEAVE the US and enter another country?

Knowing that my husband and I would need to have a Covid test before returning to the US after our RS tour I ordered a 6-pack of the Binax tests from e-med. Since testing in Europe is much easier to accomplish I'm wondering if anyone has used the Binax test to fulfill the 24-hour testing prior to entry that many countries have instituted.
I am researching numerous options and would like to consider the Binax test as one.

Acceptability of a proctored self-test might well depend on the destination country.

We used the Binax e-med proctored tests for entry into Italy in December. We flew Delta & filled out the online info & downloaded the results and that was all we needed to do. We carried a copy of the results but did not need to show them at any time. We also used them for our return to the US. It was nice to have gone through the process, so we were familiar with it prior to our flight home. It all worked well for our travel (wifi, no wait for the proctor, immediate results, etc).

The first key point with these test is purchasing the proctoring service for the test. Simply having the test is not sufficient, you must have it administered remotely by a proctor to get "official" results. If your going through e-med, then this is likely the case.

The second thing is to assure is that the test is accepted by the country you plan to use it for, and as/more important, that the airline you will be flying will accept the test. The airline is responsible for checking the results, if they decide the test is not acceptable (there was some early issues with some tests and United, as well as some airlines like BA and TAP), then you don't fly.

You don't purchase the proctoring separately, you buy the version of BINAX that includes it. You can tell from the price.

Thanks for all of your responses.

The idea was probably wishful thinking on my part. The 24 hour test-to-arrival window is difficult to meet with our travel schedule, so we'll probably have to go with PCR tests.

With things changing so rapidly it may be that testing won't be required in March for vaccinated travelers. Fingers crossed.

Yes. My point is, when people say "I used, or plan to use, the Binax Now test", it is indistinct. The tests are readily available (when in stock) at most pharmacies, but few to none of those include proctoring. For the most part, you need to go to E-Med and other providers, who happen to use the Binax test, it could be other brands as well, that primarily offer proctoring services.

We are participating in the RS Athens and the Peloponnese tour that begins on March 7th. Greece is supposed to update its travels restrictions on February 7th; it appears that changes occur weekly.

I'm almost more concerned about the weather than Covid this week. . . . .

We also have the BinaxNow proctored tests and plan to use them when we return from Spain next month. They are approved by the CDC to enter the US. We are flying United which accepts them but I saw that American also accepts them. It seems we have to research each country and airline to ensure we can board the plane to wherever we're going.

@desimonela or others that have sucessfully used the proctored emed Binax test. How long was the wait time when you logged in to take the test? I'm going to Italy in May and I have bought a pack of these tests, but looking up wondering how long it takes to get a hold of a real person to test you on emed, I see articles from August 2021 saying people had to wait for hours and hours. Now, hopefully that will be a different case in May but I'm wondering if people have had a quick experience more nowadays?

I'm worried because my flights are Nashville>New York JFK>Paris>Venice which is a lot of hopping and layovers and you're supposed to test within 24 hours of arrival in Italy. If I test before leaving Nashville I only have a couple hours to be able to test if I want to stay within the 24 hour window by Venice. I'm worried about cutting it close and how fast I can get that test in, especially if there's a long wait time to see a human proctor.

Perhaps I should forget it and go to a PCR center the day before instead, PCR tests you have 72 hours though unfortunately it looks to be another $150.

I feel rather stressed about the logistics of Covid travel.

Greece has dropped its test requirement.

Bets, Greece has dropped test requirements for EU citizens and citizens of countries that opted into the EU digital vaccination certification--not US nationals.

We used the Abbott E-Med tests in Sept, 2021, to return to the US. There was no wait time for the proctor to respond, to start the test. Safe travels!

We used the Bonax NOW proctored tests last August to return to the US and had no wait time whatsoever. We had 5 people, so had to log on 5 times, and never an issue. I had read that several weeks before we went, that there were very long wait times, but they got that resolved. Our kids have used them several times in the last two months with no wait either.

I'm adding my 2 cents to the wait time. There was none. I've used the test twice and the whole process is about 20 minutes.
