I will be in Vienna in mid May and am looking for an affordable small group tour ( not private and not big bus) for a day trip from Vienna. Like small towns and villages but open to other spots. Will already have visited Salzburg. Any tours or tour companies you recommend? I am also visiting Prague and Salzburg and would appreciate recommendations for small group tours from those places. Thank you!
I just checked Trip Advisor for the current reviews for Vienna Explorer - current reviews still look good. We took the "Hidden Wachau Valley Tour" in 2015 and very much enjoyed it.
Check Viator. They will list what is available.
And this. These are not "tours" as much as they are transportation WITH TOURS. Very intriguing so thought I would pass it along.

Oh, wow, this might be a really great option! As I will be making my way from Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague Thank you!
I was afraid you would see it off topic. I'm thinking about trying them too.
Today I looked at both. The first has limited dates but if you can work with it, great deal. Tge second is private and 3x the cost, but probably no issues with dates.
I'm thinking a good trip might be Budapest to Bratislava, a day in Bratislava, then on to Prague for a day, then Vienna for a day, then train to Budapest.
The Wachau Valley is stunning, yes. May is also a great time to visit because Dürnstein (one of main highlights of the valley) is a narrow one-street hamlet which can get pretty busy in peak season (July-August) with all the large cruise/tour groups docking there. Be sure to do a wine tasting there too (esp if you like white wines) as the Riesling and Grüner Veltliner is world-class!
