If you just need it for GPS, I would suggest an eSIM data plan rather than a physical SIM card. You can order the eSIM online and then activate it once you are in the country - usually with a QR code. I used an Airalo eSIM data plan last year when I spent a month in Germany and it worked very well for me. It's easy to set up and easy to use.
To use an eSIM data plan, your phone must be unlocked and must be a newer phone (from 2017 on). You can find out a lot more information about them on the Technology Tips forum. Many forum members here have tried them and been very happy for the most part. And it saves having to stop and buy a SIM card, install it and so on. In fact, the newer iPhone 14's have no physical SIMs, so an eSIM is the only option for them.
