Help Buying OBB tickets

Hello - I need to purchase tickets for two for a June 29 journey from Hallstatt to Munich, with a 5-hour stopover in Salzburg. I am able to use the OBB Route Planner to get what I want, but can't get the same thing in the OBB Ticket Shop. I think the problem is the stopover - I can't get the Ticket Shop to show the stopover.
Here's what I want:

  • Hallstatt to Attnang-Pucnheim: leaving at 8:28 am
  • Attnang-Pucheim to Salzburg: 10:00 am, arriving 10:48 am
  • 5-hour stopover in Salzburg
  • Leave Salzburg at 16:00, arrive 17:41 Munich

Short of buying two individual tickets (which I think would be more expensive) can someone tell me how to purchase this with a stopover? Thank you -

The German DB site does sell these tickets and is easier to manipulate, so that's the easy solution. Looking at a test date of 4/26 on the DB web site, I don't see a price difference to book it together or in 2 pieces. Given the trouble we had yesterday with trying to book a two-connection train ride through OBB, I'm a little skeptical about putting more effort into that site.

Thank you Laura! Can you tell me when the tickets for Jun 29 will go on sale?

Also, if we wanted until that day to purchase the ticket from Salzburg to Munich, would the cost be significantly higher, or possibly sold out? It would be nice to stay as long as we wished in Salzburg and then catch the train at the time. Thank you.

You can do an advance purchase of that ticket, with a 5h12 stopover in Salzburg, for a really good price (as low as 38€ for 2P), but the EC from Salzburg to Munich will be train specific, so you cannot stay longer in Salzburg.

Right now you can buy tickets for June 26, so you should be able to buy tickets some time tomorrow.

The highest price for a Salzburg-Munich ticket is €64 for two on the RailJet, but tickets are cheaper on EC or Meridian trains, or you can use a €28 Lander ticket for Bavaria/Bayern on Meridian trains. So I would not buy that ticket ahead if you prefer flexibility.
