Yotel airside or landside? Overnight transfer IST

I have an overnight transfer in IST from one international flight to another. Because it is overnight, Turkish Airlines says checked bags will not be checked through and I will need to collect them at IST and re-check them for the next flight. Has anyone done this? I would like to stay in the hotel airside. Will that work? My flight out the next morning to Sicily is 7:10 am. Can I recheck the bags without leaving the international zone?

This past April we did the landside Yotel. Used a cart to tote luggage through the terminal to Yotel. In the morning, simply walked to ticket counter, checked our bags, went thru passport control. Was simple and painless. The Yotel itself was great. Quiet, beds were excellant. Best night sleep on trip.

I think Turkey did away with the requirement that US citizens have an EVisa. Check. When you leave the AirSide, you are entering Turkey like any other short or long term visitor to Turkey.

Hi Ed. I’m curious where you found out that you would have to retrieve your checked luggage due to an overnight before the next leg of your trip. We have exactly the same issue coming up in a couple of weeks and planned to stay at the Yotel Airside. If we need to retrieve luggage, the Yotel Landside might be the better option.
