I'll be staying in Selcuk for 2 nights in the beginning of Nov. Pegasus flights are about the same from both Istanbul airports and I am leaving from and returning to a hotel in the Sultanahmet.
Is SAW much easier to get in and out of because it is smaller?
Recommendations for departure times due to excess road traffic?
How much time for security both leaving Istanbul and traveling back from Izmir?

I didn't fly out of SAW but I understand it might be a little easier, hopefully someone has experience with that. There is traffic everywhere in Istanbul and I don't know that you'll save any time getting to/from your hotel from either, especially as to get to SAW you have to cross the river. Two hours ahead is enough at Izmir, know that you may go through a security check at the door (scanners) before you get to check out counters. I'd give myself more time ahead at IST just because it's so huge. Allow at least an hour transport time from your hotel to either airport if you use private shuttle or taxi, add an hour for public transit.
