We want to see main sites, of course, but also would love quiet (possible?!) and perhaps not just tourists around. Not big party people - in our 50/60's. Close to public transportation is great. Any suggestions are super helpful - two of us for 4-5 nights. Thanks in advance.

I have stayed at Hotel Niles, a family run boutique hotel, in Beyazit several times. It's a very short (two minute?) walk to the streetcar and the Grand Bazaar.

We stayed in Taksim not Sultanhamet where most tourists stay. A friend who had lived in Istanbul
suggested we stay in Taksim.
