,What are Turkey's Coverage Requirements of U.S. Tourists for Travel Health Insurance?

Turkey's official government website, www.evisa.gov.tr, for an E-Visa application states that all visitors- including Americans-must have "Travel Health Insurance."

Does anyone know what dollar amount the medical coverage needs to be? The Turkish government website offers to sell their policy, without stating what it covers, or what amount is required. I plan to buy travel Insurance from one of the usual companies prior to traveling to Turkey and need to know what amount of coverage the Turkish government requires.
Thank you very much for sharing your insight.

I am not aware of any specific amount. I usually just get standard travel insurance and have never had any issues.

My travel companion got sick while we were in Turkey in 2015. Even though he had travel insurance, the (private) hospital required him to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed by his insurance later. The good side of it was that emergency room expenses, an MRI, a CAT scan, EKGs, a meeting with neurologist, and heaven only knows what else came to a grand total of $1300. It's a lot cheaper to get sick in Turkey than it is in the US.

Actually that what my parents experienced in Czech Republic. My dad was sick and went to the ER, hospital wanted payment upfront and then they could get reimbursed at home. My dad was amazed that the drugs and the hospital visit cost about $100. Whereas any ER visit in the states will cost $$$.

Digging deeper into the web, I never found any information on what the Turkish government wants to see in the way of health insurance coverage. The government offers policies through its E-Visa website that cost a little less than US $100. I did learn that Turkish Airlines offers a Travel Health insurance policy that offers $1,000 of medical coverage- confirming the observations that health care costs in Turkey are incredibly inexpensive compared to the U.S. and the EU.
The Travel Insurance policy I bought through Generali Insurance covers the usual trip delay/interruption, luggage loss, medical evacuation up to $250K, medical care up to $50K.
That policy cost $153 for a little more than a month.of travel.
Happy Travels!
