Getting ready for my trip to Turkey this October. In my copy of RS book it says " You must buy a visa before you enter Turkey-- evisa.gov.tr. So with 8 weeks to go, I decide its time to apply.
The website says I am exempt for a Visa. This is for tourist visits of 90 days within 180 days of first entering. No problem for me, I only want a week to tack on after some time in Italy. But then on the same page it talks about the validity period of my visa begining upon entry and date stamp.
So will I need to get one issued? Is the website just kicking me out?

Assuming you are a US Citizen, no visa is needed. Ignore out of date info from guidebook.

Turkey dropped the visa requirement for U.S. citizens back in January 2024.
