Can I get a Visa for Turkey at the Istanbul Airport? If not, what's the best website for getting one online? Seems that there are many websites available and the cost is high.
www.evisa.gov.tr. Is the official Turkish government website to get your e-visa.
Last I heard, you can get the visa at the airport for €30 versus €50 online. You might experience a bit of a delay getting it at Istanbul’s new mega-airport if a lot of
International flights land at the same time yours does.
There could potentially be one more airport line you have to stand in.
Thanks! The prices on-line are super high, from $50 per person and up. Seems like a scam.
Yep - the online visa was $25 when I went to Turkey in 2019. You always need to be sure you have the government website ( Turkish Airlines also refers to the website I gave you.) All the others are just fleecing the unaware.
A1) Do get it on line, much easier and it is flagged to your Passport number so walking through immigration is easy.
A2) Do get it from the Turkish government website and not a reseller; but having said that I went to check the prices (I rarely throw out speculation when it only takes a minute to see if I am accurate) and all of the Turkish government websites were down this morning (maybe something to do with Bayraktar sales?).
A3) If you cant log in either, just wait, they will come back up.
A4) Even at $50 a bargain.
A5) Enjoy the trip.
I traveled to Turkey in September, 2019.
At that time, the Turkish government site stated that they were not giving visas at the airport. My airline would not let us on the plane without showing the visa.
Maybe something has changed?
Only use the Turkish government website (with .tr extension), and save time at the airport by getting it online.
I always get the Turkish visas online directly through the Turkish government. It makes life easier at the airport.
They raised the price recently. It used to be $25. Now it's $50. If I recall correctly, it was still $25 in March 2020, but it was definitely $50 when I returned in October 2021.
I read that they were available through AAA. I was going to stop by the office that is close to me. Is that not a good idea?
I doubt AAA would be processing e-visas for Turkey.
Thank you this thread has been helpful to me as I prepare for my trip tomorrow.
Oops Brain freeze. It was International Driver permit at AAA. That certainly makes more sense.
