Turkish Experiences

Istanbul - any recommendations for a Turkish shave in the old town area? Cost, tipping...?

water pipes - are they sanitary?

Are they available in coffee shops in Greece? (If there's an after affect I'd rather it be near the end of our Turkey-Greece tour)

My husband got a terrific shave, haircut, etc. from this barber near the spice bazaar. There are lots of awards on the walls! They did a great job and he had a fun time. I think total cost was about 30 euros but can't recall for sure.

DeniseK,
did your husband have a traditional Turkish shave? With the flame and string?

Yes to flame, not sure about string. He has a beard so they trimmed his beard, did a haircut, and used the flame for cleanup around the neck, etc. Also some crazy process of removing ear wax that made for fun video. The haircut was just about the best he's ever had.

You’ll get your own personal plastic mouthpiece for the hookah pipe so relatively sanitary.
